Top Bollywood Actors Intelligently Develop Game Plans to be Most Likable

Being likable has its benefits - you'll have an easier time making friends in the film / TV industry and achieving your dream to be a great actor  Recently, Some of the Bollywood stars shared some advice on how making yourself more appealing and achieve success.

Here Are Their 15 Strategies:

1. Their striking feature-a permanent smile

Seeing a smile makes other people happy, so if you're smiling when you're interacting with someone, he'll find you easy to like and friendly.

2. They ask questions about the people they are talking to

There's nothing people love more than to talk about themselves. They will find the conversation most memorable and positive if they spend time talking about themselves.

3. They pay attention

Listen more to other people than you speak, and people will feel valued. Even if you're asking questions, people won't warm up to that if it seems you're not listening to what they're saying.

4. They remember names

Names are such a core part of people's identity. Bringing their names up in the conversation will not only make them feel good, but they'll also appreciate the fact that you remember their names. For example- Mukesh Ji, Vandana Ji... and speaking frequently in a conversation.

5. They repeat and reinforce

Repeating what someone said to you and strengthening it will help people feel recognized and approved. And that's all people want- acceptance!

6. They don't give uninvited advice

Give advice to people when they ask you for it. If you go around telling people your opinion, you can come across as being overbearing and bossy even if you're just trying to help.

7. They don't make everything in life a competition

Trying to compete with everyone and to be one-up on everything people say can quickly make you less likeable in their eyes.

8. They take responsibility

If you make a mistake, take responsibility for it. Acknowledge it, and don't point the blame at someone else.

9. They switch off their cell phones

People appreciate undivided attention, because it makes them feel like you're truly listening to them. It makes them feel that you value their presence and time.

10. They don't keep interrupting

You may get overexcited (For example, hearing: You are short listed and have a good chance)  and interrupt people while they are talking, which can annoy them. It makes them feel that what they have to say is not that important to you.

11. They make eye contact

Making the right amount of eye contact with someone can help them feel rapport with you. You'll also be considered as being more confident and trustworthy.

12. They accept that other people will disagree with them

Everyone has different opinions - learn to be OK with that. Your way may not always be the right way for others, so don't try to convince them that they're wrong. Accept your differences.

13. They don't constantly seek sympathy and attention

Likeable people don't need to constantly seek sympathy and attention to feel better about themselves.

14. They don't try too hard

Focus on making yourself happy first, and people will lean toward you. If you try too hard, people can see that and after some time may become disinterested in you.

15. They have good hygiene

Wear clean clothes, brush your teeth, and take baths.

Naseeruddin Shah Cries Foul At Indian Acting Schools & Their Teachers

Naseeruddin Shah is one of the best actors in India & is known to be not politically correct when it comes to speaking out. He recently attacked acting schools in India and explained how these institutions are playing with young, enthusiastic minds who want to make it big in the world of cinema.
He explained why he hates the concept of acting schools in India and it makes sense-

There are no acting teachers in the country, they are all shams, they are all frauds and I have no hesitation in saying this.

All these people running acting schools are absolute and utter frauds, they are fooling the kids who come to them and teach them nothing.
There is no acting teacher in this country and it is a really unfortunate thing, considering how old the film industry is.
I believe that anyone who is passionate about acting can learn on his own.

Dilip Kumar never went to an acting school, Amitabh Bachchan never went to an acting school, Kamal Haasan never did yet all of them are such fine actors.

An actor trains himself and that is what I believe. Being in an institution is conducive to learning.
I learned at the National School of Drama because I had the urge to learn. I was exposed to many things I was not exposed to before, so my horizons widened, but you can do it on your own as well. I dont think its essential for an actor to go to a training school to train yourself.

It is important to add that these acting schools charge huge sums of money from the students. We invite the experiences of those who have attended these acting schools

Author's opinion

Basically, I agree with Naseeruddin Shah's views An actor trains himself..." with our experience with this blog where many student readers of the posts from this blog have practiced with their friends  or in the front of a full size mirror are now actors in films and TV serials
However,  there may be some good acting schools in our country to learn, but for the beginners and those actors who want an update and sharpen their talent,  in my opinion the best option would be to hire/join a senior acting coach (Click here for an example) He / she  should be a person of wisdom  possessing superb communication skills, compassionate towards young aspiring actors and presently still working as an actor

Key to clues for an actor's success
Key to clues for an actor's success

Here are Vital Tips from My Secret Chamber to Put You at The Top of Acting Game

1.  Watch Great International Actors

To become a better actor you must not only continue learning the craft of acting (which is a lifelong process), but observe celebrity actors known for memorable and award winning performance. Go to the theatre, watch films/TV programs that have your favorite actors in. Observe how they execute their craft. What can you learn from them? What are they doing that makes them an outstanding actor?
Warning: Dont become a viewer getting involved in the story, but observe films as a critic and as a learner. One of the great ways is to switch off the volume and then observe their acting

2.  Give Your Best in Rehearsals

Bring as much to the rehearsal (If there is one) as you can including strong character choices, clear character intentions, ideas, and your prep work/research. This will help you hugely when in the rehearsal space and creating the world of the character with your fellow actors. If there are no rehearsals, then seek some time before a shoot with the director and show him/her.
Remember, anything you do repeatedly become a natural habit, good or bad!

3.  Have a Mentor or a Coach

Had lots of failures and are struggling to see how to find the success you desire? Having a mentor (acting coach) can really help you see outside your pre-conceived idea and find other ways to climb up the acting ladder of success. It doesnt need to be someone who is a three time Filmfare or Oscar winner, but someone you believe and admire. You can seek solutions from such a coach before an audition or before a shoot (May be by paying a small fee), fix an appointment, practice and then go for your kill! Having a mentor can do wonders for your confidence and your career.

4.  Develop Your Observation and Imagination

As an actor, drawing upon our life experience is part and parcel of connecting to a role and injecting truth into it. It is ESSENTIAL you live a full life to do this. Take walks in the parks, stations, zoo, visit as many people as possible regularly and observe keenly everything about them. Try new experiences, visit new places, hear different genres of music Be an imaginative actor and create new lives. Use your imagination and dream and create stories from your observations of people, animals, birds, nature etc.

5.  Improve Mental Health

Alongside working on honing your craft and audition technique, you also need to work on your mind. This is of utmost importance. Do you understand the limitations your mind places on situations? Do you understand why? How can you overcome this? Once you have cracked this (Ask your coach), you will free yourself, lose inhibitions and find you begin taking more risks and making clearer choices with your work. Even work on your mind, your mentor (coach) can help you.

6.  Analyze Script and Character

Very carefully read your script, perhaps many a times. Analyze the objective, changes and how it achieves the objective. Analyze your character. This contains all the clues you will ever need in creating your character. Go through it with a fine tooth comb to pull out all those gems the script writer has loaded it with.

7.  Build Contacts

As well as having talent and consistently honing your acting craft, you need to have a good, solid list of contacts and continue to build upon this. You can build up your network/contacts by really working on social networking sites like Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Attending film festivals, theater groups, workshops, meeting industry people will definitely expand your contacts and help to broaden your visibility to casting directors and others who matter to you.

8.  Read Books

If you say youre an actor, be an actor. Read books on acting to hone your acting craft and read fictions which have conflict, suspense and intense emotions. Dont just read, imagine scenes while reading and be a character in the story.

9.  Then Discover Who You Are

Write down your physical, mental, social and cultural profile. The best would be to seek help from your coach. Identify your flexible traits, emotions, attitudes, which you can easily change, matching that of a character. Then forget what you cannot. Just bring the character into you rather than trying desperately to be a character.

10.  Create your Character-Write Down

Do you document (Write down) your character while analyzing the script and character? This is a great way to stay on top of all the choices you make for your character. Of course, you have to create not one but maybe 2 or 3 choices of creating different profiles of your character. Just grab an A4 size paper, write anything that inspires you in the development of your character, this can include a back story, photos of their street, house etc.

Lessons from 18 Bollywood Star's Struggle Stories

Sachin Tandulkar in a commercial ad

The moral of this story: When a cricketer can be a Bollywood Star, why not you?

Sachin Tendulkar is to star as himself in a Bollywood biopic on his rise to become the greatest batsman in the history of cricket.
The film will be directed by James Erskine, who has won a number of awards and produced several acclaimed sports-focused documentaries, including Battle of the Sexes, the story of Billie-Jeans match against Bobby Riggs, and One Night in Turin on Englands 1990 World Cup campaign in Italy.

The Master Blaster is all set to blaze the silver screen with the yet to-be-titled movie, which will capture his cricket and personal life in great detail. Tendulkar, who has given his go-ahead to the production, will be contributing to it with his own inputs as well as acting, where he surprised everybody with his desire to learn, practice and his sheer determination to be a good actor!

The work on a movie in which Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar played himself started a year ago and is being shot in latest. Nearly 50% of the film has been shot. Apart from Tendulkar, many well-known personalities across the world are also contributing to it.

It will trace his rise from humble beginnings in Mumbai to his recent retirement as the highest-scoring batsmen in history. He retired in November 2013 having made more than 30,000 runs in international matches, a hundred test match centuries, and appeared in more tests and one day internationals than any other player.

He is loved throughout India for providing the country with its best memories of sporting glories, not least the victories against Pakistan and the 2011 World Cup after defeating Sri Lanka.
Someone had to capture these memories for the generations to come who will want to know what the Tendulkar-era was like, explained Ravi Bhagchandka of the Mumbai-based production company "200 Not Out".

Cricket commentator Ayaz Menon said Tendulakars story is similar to that of Tiger Woods a child prodigy who lived up to his early promise. More interesting is his impact on the Indian psyche he captured the imagination of a billion people, everyone watched him bat and when he was out they switched off, he said.

He had been expected to follow in his fathers footsteps as a modest-income teacher, but his family encouraged him to focus on cricket from the age of ten. He stayed with relatives while he learned the game. They didnt know if he would make it, but they gambled and it paid off, he added.

Super Star Shah Rukh Khan
An Inspiration to Aspiring Actors! Super Star Shah Rukh Khan

It took me 20 years to be an overnight success: Shah Rukh Khan (Source)

This shows how much of hard work, time, patience and perseverance is required to be a successful actor. This is a lesson to all struggling and aspiring actors. SRK may be perhaps the only superstar who in spite of the fame and tons of money works 14 hours a day or maybe more, even today!

So, dear aspiring actors, Dont dream an overnight success.

An inspiration for many, Shah Rukh Khan says struggling actors should be concerned about their craft rather worrying about looks.
Asked whether he would like to give any tips to struggling actors, he said: You have to work hard and focus on acting. Yes PR and portfolio are all important, but acting is more important. Focus on acting.

Now a superstar, Shah Rukh had entered the movies with Deewana, in which he played a second fiddle, and worked his way up to be a superstar.
Nobody becomes an actor by planning things. Dont focus on your clothes or make-up. Focus on your acting, he said on the sidelines of his birthday celebrations. SRK turned 49 Sunday.

The actor rose so high in the firmament that he was given the title of Bollywood Badshah. The 49-year-old says he takes pride in being an outsider who made it big in filmdom.

Shah Rukh said: I feel proud about the fact that I am an outsider. This industry has been harsh at times at times it loves you and at times it punishes you.

There are a lot of people responsible for who I am today. I dont think I can ever play character Shah Rukh Khan in any film because I dont think my personal life is so important. I think I am too small a person and have a long way to go, added Shah Rukh.
(SourceNovember 4, 2014 2:03 pm

Why Shah Rukh Khan focuses on "To be concerned about your craft?" Because, though developing your looks, body, voice and marketing and promotion is important, nothing can really replace excelling in the acting craft! Yes, to be a top professional actor! It's like a quality of a product and its beautiful packaging. Both may be essential for a product to sell, but obviously, quality comes first. Isn't it?

Therefore, it is strongly suggested that you develop your acting craft by getting professionally trained either by an acting coach or by a good acting school.

And the final words; continue updating your craft periodically till you die!
